David Thomas Jarecki

David Thomas Jarecki was born in 1975 in Chicago, Illinois.  He was raised in an apartment building on the south side living with his mother and two sisters.  In 1991, when he was 16, his mother Joanne stretched the family’s funds to purchase a video camera as a birthday present.  David gathered his sisters and other members of the apartment building to write, film, and edit over twenty short comedy films over the next two years.

Jarecki continued through high school making ten additional recreational films with friends including a feature length sketch comedy film.  In 1996 he shifted his focus toward writing.  Jarecki completed a 2 year writing course through the Long Ridge Writer’s Group.  David has had his works published in the local community college volume Prairie Fire and written articles for local newspapers including The Manteno News.   Jarecki worked with the Manteno cable access channel for two years in which he contributed to several projects.  Most notably he wrote, produced and directed a 4th of July extravaganza for the station.

In 1994, David Jarecki’s poem Immaculate Island was published in The National Library of Poetry’s annual volume Echoes of Yesterday.  The poem was ranked in the top 3% of the thousands of entries submitted to that year’s crop.  Jarecki has completed two thematic poetry books, The Legend of the Fetal Poltergeist and 199X:  Nineteen Ninety-Ten, and has had various short works published in C. Shoup's Kankazine.  In 2009 he completed a science-fiction novel about people who posses metaphysical powers titled To Be the Next Ar Zau.  The satire Planet Ostrogoth!:  The Inside Story of History’s Most Alternative Band, released in 2007 through POD publisher Trafford, is his first full length publication.  Jarecki is a frequent contributor to the book’s supplemental website www.planetostrogoth.com and is currently working on the horror novel entitled Kaleidoscope Resurrection.
